Read some reviews about Lorenzo's Diner here...
Lorenzo’s Diner in Wollongong has experimented with cuisine and approach over the years, and now offers an Asian infusion amongst traditional Italian cuisine. Peruse and partake in the regularly changing menu that accompanies a European style wine menu. The setting is unostentatious but lively with an air of contemporary freshness.

Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide 2010 Score: 13/20 "Lorenzo Pagnan is quite the local identity, feeding Wollongong for more than a decade in this location alone - a plain-lined modern restaurant behind a somewhat aloof frostedglass streetfront"

Lorenzo's has beautiful food, and I really enjoy eating there - although it is too expensive for anything but a special occasion. They could do a bit more with the decor, which is not very cozy. I must recommend the degustation menu. Expensive,...

It was absolutely amazing. Modern Italian food at it's finest. It was expensive with the average meal about $50, but if you an afford this, it is most definitely worth it. Service amazing, and coffee to die for.

The food is the star here. We had a wonderful trout lasagna for the pasta course that was tasty, delicate, and a bit spicy. I had a wonderful lamb on aubergine (eggplant) for the meat course. And finally, an amazing pear tart/cake. Our service was top notch. The room is pleasantly modern, as is the decor, but I wish the seats were not of the hard wooden variety. Perhaps that explains the "diner" name, but that is just a quibble in an overall wonderful experience.

The food at Lorenzos is divine. I get Lorenzos Choice, which is a selection chosen for you by Lorenzo on that specific night. It’s lovely to get a suprise when the dishes are served, knowing that each mouthful is going to be exquisite. The service and atmosphere are excellent and the resturant is quite private. The perfect place for a romantic dinner or for when you need to impress. Have never had a problem or a bad experience at this restuarant. Highly reccommended!

This is not your typical Italian food. Although there are some nice traditional italian touches (a cover charge for Pane? e coperto), this is novelle Italian (I guess that would be "Nuovo Italiano") that really pushes the envelope -- no "insalta mista" or "spaghetti Bologonese" to be found on this menu. When he’s not too busy, Lorenzo Pagnan loves to leave the kitchen to wander around his modern, casual diner with its outstanding art, and talk about his produce and cooking. A Wollongong institution just like his restaurant, Pagnan keeps customers happy with regular menu changes and generous, consistently good cooking. He knows how to convert the foundations of traditional northern Italian cucina into something modern and magical. Start with a wood-fired semolina bread roll with ginger butter and a wonderfully inventive antipasto misto, comprising cauliflower puree; eggplant and basil roll; cucumber, eschalot and mint salad; baked ricotta and capsicum slice; and, most tantalising, tempura beans. Mains are suitably meaty and packed with hearty flavours. The superb boned and rolled spatchcock with sweet potato timbale is given a twist from mushroom and sun-dried tomato frittata. Enjoy a super Tuscan wine with a trio of Italian cheeses or the wonderfully excessive diplomatico: chocolate mousse-filled chocolate sponge, double cream and more chocolate.

This is first class dining. The chef (and owner) is actually called Lorenzo, so I found out later. The food is Italian and, even though I don't much like the term, contemporary Australian. When I say good I mean 10/10, and I've eaten here a dozen times travelling between Sydney and further along the South Coast. My favourite are his risottos. The spicy Italian sausage was my all-time top pick. He changes the menu quite often, but always invents something original and delicious. I can suggest any of his pastas - especially the lasagne. The sardines were also a treat. I'm not sure what's on the menu these days (I haven't been that way for six months) but I think an important part to rating a place is knowing how fresh the ingredients are, and that the chef is passionately involved.

It's a treat to very now and again place yourself in the hands of a master chef and that's what we did for a recent anniversary. We left it to the chef to pick five courses and what a night of great food. Well done!

Lorenzo's Diner in Keira St Wollongong. Service - great, food - fabulous, good quality wine without the huge mark up. I am not a dessert person BUT I had the Almond meal and Ricotta cake. Oh my... they didn't tell me about the warm gooey chocolate fudge balls scattered through out it. It topped off a really marvellous dinner. Mains Italian and seafood.

Since its reinvention earlier this year, Lorenzo's has really found its stride - with restaurateur Lorenzo Pagnan heading back into his kitchen to create inspired yet simple Italian meals. Anticipate dishes such as fall-apart slow-cooked beef cheeks with tagliatelle, or roast veal loin in a delicately creamed tomato sauce with moist polenta, served by black-clad floor staff. Other nice touches include Haberfield Bakery bread, marinated olives from Berry and a concise but lovely wine list with Italian drops aplenty. Lorenzo's would stand proud even among Sydney's top cucinas.

More than a cafe this is a smart, slick restaurant. The food is very good, with a menu that offers traditional and contemporary Italian dishes. There is attention to detail in the kitchen and on the floor, and the prices, for the quality, are fair. The wine list is thoughtful and interesting. The best food in Wollongong.
